Wedding Ring: How to Take Care of Your Wedding Rings

Wedding ring is a very valuable item. It has a value as a jewelry, and also, because it is a personal item, wedding rings have become very important for the owner. Everyone want their wedding rings to always look good, but as every other jewelry, it needs a special care. There are a couple of things you can do to keep your wedding rings shiny and beautiful.

  • After having a long contact with your moist skin, a wedding ring can develop dark stains on its surface. So, avoid using your wedding ring when your hand is wet. If you are going to be in contact with water or other liquids for sometime, take the ring off and put it in a dry place. If your wedding ring gets wet, use dry flannel to wipe it.
  • If you are storing your wedding ring somewhere, make sure that you put it in a clean and dry place.
  • If your wedding ring is no longer shiny, wash it in a warm soapy water. Add one teaspoon of ammonia in the water. Then, soak the ring and brush it with a soft toothbrush. After you brush the ring, rinse it with clean warm water. Wipe the ring until dry with dry flannel.
  • When you're working with chemical substance or cosmetics, always take the ring off. Substance like sulfur and mercury can damage the ring and create dark spots.
  • If you have a wedding ring with stone on it, usually, the bottom of the stone will collect a lot of dust. Use cotton wool to clean your ring. Soak the cotton wool in a cologne, and gently clean your ring with it. Thoroughly clean the frame of your ring and underneath the stone too. Then, wipe it until dry with flannel.

The key to keeping your wedding ring in a good condition is proper care. Clean it often and avoid materials that will damage your precious ring.
